Raised on a small farm in the woods of the Fraser Valley, I grew up surrounded by the natural world, inspired by the creativity of my parents -- my father, a woodworker, and my mother, a textile artist who raised angora goats to support her craft. Our house was a home filled with objects imbued with stories: rugs my mother wove from the mohair of her angora goats, wooden bowls, and furniture made by my father. I remember the old chopping block that lived in our kitchen, a weighty thing my father built, well-worn with markings of so many meals prepared from scratch. Simple things that would eventually become quiet teachers throughout my life. It is these quiet moments of softness and connection that I choose to explore in my practice. I find the suppleness of clay provides the perfect material for these explorations of tenderness and resiliency.

I studied ceramics at Kootenay School of the Arts in Nelson, BC, and visual arts at the University of the Fraser Valley and Dawson College in Montreal. I have participated in various ceramic and visual art workshops and completed a year-long mentorship with Deborah Thompson, an inspiring and brilliant artist living in Nelson, BC.
